News & Articles 2o Acropolis Rally Legends 2023 – Leg 3: Victory for Andreas Christodoulakis-Stavros Anamolidis!
Andreas Christodoulakis-Stavros Anamolidis won the 2nd Acropolis Rally Legends which was organized for the second year alongside the Historic Acropolis Rally. The event was the sixth round of the newly formed Legends Cup and features Class A and N cars FIA homologated between 1991 and 2000. Crews in the third and final leg of the event competed in 4 Special Stages and finished on Sunday afternoon, November 5th in Elefsina, the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2023.
Having already built up a safe margin since Saturday and seeing their main rivals retiring, Andreas Christodoulakis-Stavros Anamolidis won easily the event on Sunday without having to take any risks. They took their first overall win of their career in a Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo. Unlucky on the third day were Nikos Moschopoulos-Irini Kogia Grammatikou who retired just a few meters before the end of the penultimate Special Stage due to driveshaft problems, lying second overall at that time, in a Toyota Yaris. Achilleas Christodoulou-Epaminondas Karanikolas returned under super rally regulations, after their retirement on Saturday. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI crew, won all Sunday’s Special Stages and finished second overall in the Acropolis Rally Legends.
The podium was completed by Kyriakos Vytogiannis-Dimitris Vytogiannis in a Subaru Impreza GT Turbo, in their second participation in the rally. Vassilis Karathanasis-Eleni Karathanassi (Opel Astra GSi) finished fourth, the only two-wheel drive car to finish in the demanding 2nd Acropolis Rally Legends. 7 crews started the event, with only 4 of them reaching the finish line.
The Municipality of Elefsina, Elefsina, the European Capital of Culture for 2023, Superfast Ferries, SP Tableware, Seajets and Cosmote TV were sponsors of the event.
