News & Articles 8 crews will compete in Legends category!

A few minutes after the last car of the Sporting category, 8 crews will compete in Legends Category of Historic Acropolis Rally. It is aimed for Cars of the Groups A and N, homologated from 1 January 1991 till 31 December 2000. The category made its appearance for the first time at the Historic Acropolis Rally in 2022 and this year, Greek Motorsport Federation (OMAE) established a Legends Cup that includes 7 rallies. The three-day event is the sixth round of the Cup, with coefficient 3.

A few days ago, Achilleas Christodoulou turned 19 and is considered one of the most promising drivers for the future, starting his career in gravel formulas. With Epaminondas Karanikolas as co-driver, they will compete in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI. About a month ago, Akis Ladias made a comeback in rallying after 31 years of absence. With the experienced Michalis Patrikousiss as co-driver, they participated in Fthinoporino Rally and they are ready for the challenge of Legends category, with a Subaru Impreza WRX. It’s never too late for Vassilis Karathanasis, who after almost 30 years of rallying, he decided to set foot on gravel for the first time with an Opel Astra GSi, with his 22-year-old daughter, Eleni next to him. Fourth in last year’s 1st Acropolis Rally Legends, Kyriakos Vytogiannis will also drive a Subaru Impreza GT Turbo in this year’s rally, this time with his son, Dimitrios Vytogiannis, as co-driver, in his first appearance in rallying. After 16 years of inactivity as a driver, Andreas Christodoulakis, returns to the left bucket, in order to take part in the 2nd Acropolis Rally Legends in a white Subaru Legacy 4WD Turbo that he “built” for the occasion. His co-driver will be Stavros Anamolidis.

With several appearances in Cypriot rallies, Marinos Cacouratos is travelling to compete Greece for the first time as a competitor, with Constantinos Constantinou as co-driver in a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4.  Nikos Moschopoulos will drive a Toyota Yaris. Irini Kogia Grammatikou will read the pacenotes for him.
