News & Articles Historic Acropolis Rally 2023: Preparations for the European Historic Acropolis Rally are underway!
Two months away from the Historic Acropolis Rally, the ninth round of the European Historic Rally Championship, and preparations by the Organizing Committee of the race continue. The route includes a total of 14 Special Stages, with the teams again this year having complete freedom to service the cars at the end of each Special Stage.
On Thursday 2 November, from 12:00 to 17:00, at the facilities of ASN (OMAE) in the Olympic Complex (OAKA) , the Administrative and Technical Checks of the Rally will take place. On Friday 3 November, the Ceremonial Start will be held at the foot of the Acropolis and directly the competitors will head to Dervenochoria for the first Special Stage of the rally, “Skourta” (13.02 km – 12:18). Afterwards, they will compete on the Special Stages “Thiva” (14.53 km – 13:21) and “Elikonas” (8.06 km – 14:44) and will end up in Itea for a 30-minute Service where they will put the headlights for the last Special Stage of Leg 1. After the night passage from the “Bauxites” (8.48 km – 19:28), which will awaken for many glorious memories of the past, competitors will return to Marina of Itea.
Second leg on Saturday 4 November includes six Special Stages with the crews fighting against the time on Special Stages “Parnassos” (15.27 km – 09:48), Prosilio (11.55 km – 10:56) and “Bauxites” (8.48 km – 11:19). After a 30-min Service in Marina of Itea, crews will follow the repetition of Special Stages “Parnassos” (15.27 km – 13:47) and “Prosilio” (11.55 km – 14:55). Second day concludes with the second night Special Stage (10th) of the rally, “Karoutes” (16.47 km – 19:23).
The third leg of the Historic Acropolis Rally takes place on Sunday 5 November and includes four Special Stages. Special Stage “Mavroneri” (9.98 km – 10:03), is the first stage of the day and replaces “Steri” that was initially announced by the Organizing Committee. Afterwards, the crews will run on the Special Stage “Livadia” (10.95 km – 10:56), known from last year’s rally. Historic Acropolis Rally 2023 concludes with the Special Stages “Thiva” (14.53 km – 12:59) and Neohoraki (8.37 km – 13:37).
After the end of the last rally of the season for European Historic Rally Championship, another innovation awaits the crews, as the finish and the Award Ceremony for both the European and the Greek Rally, will be held in Elefsina – the European Capital of Culture for 2023.
It is noted that although the seventy-year history of the Acropolis Rally is inextricably linked to the harshness of the Greek soil, the Special Stages of the Historic Acropolis Rally 2023 are shorter in length and specially adapted for Historic cars.
